Cambodia's Best Boutique Hotels

I have been lucky enough to experience many hotels during my years living as an expat here in Cambodia. I prefer the smaller, boutique properties, here are my personal highlights, I hope you find them handy!

Phnom Penh Boutique Hotels:

The TeaHouse Asian Urban Retreat

Location: Street 242

What they say: TeaHouse is one of Phnom Penh's newest hotels, inspired by the world of Tea. It offers 52 rooms with an Asian touch, at affordable prices.

What I say: Beautiful boutique hotel with a newly renovated pool area, great staff and a great location. I feel they could honestly be charging more for the rooms. Awesome value! A new fav.

The Kabiki

Location: Street 264 (easy walking to Riverside and the popular shopping/restaurant precinct on St 240)

What they say: Situated on a quiet street, our hotel offers 18 tastefully decorated rooms, eight with a private terrace. In a beautiful 3500m2 garden setting, surrounded by 500 trees we planted ourselves to add a natural and exotic feel to the premises, we have two swimming pools (one large pool and a shallow baby-pool), comfortable day beds and lounge chairs spread around the garden and a restaurant serving a mix of Khmer and international dishes.

What I say: Beautiful old converted French villa. Tranquil grounds, leafy, amazing staff, great pool. An oasis in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Phnom Penh life.

What they say: Spread over half a hectare, the Plantation hosts 70 rooms, two swimming pools, a restaurant, two bars, a gym, a meeting room and even a luxurious rooftop suite. And of course, all this is located at a two minute walk from the some of the "must see" places in Phnom Penh.

What I say: Really lovely boutique 4 star option, great pool, lovely staff, great location

Shinta Mani

What they say: Shinta Mani Siem Reap, an upscale boutique hotel created by acclaimed architect Bill Bensley, showcases 39 contemporary designed rooms and public spaces in an Angkorian-inspired design. This exceptional Angkor hotel enjoys a tranquil and leafy setting within the township of Siem Reap – just a 15 minute tuktuk ride from the magnificent temples of Angkor Wat.

What I say: Luxurious, boutique, responsible and in my opinion is the best available at the moment in Siem Reap.
